A single-camera set up is the legal industry standard. It is generally used when a single deponent is to appear alone on the screen. However, attempting to use a “wide shot” with a single camera to capture two or more parties simultaneously is not advised since the resulting distance and perspective makes facial expressions and overall demeanor difficult to see. |
For depositions where two persons or objects need to be on the screen simultaneously, a “split-screen” device is used to combine the separated outputs of two cameras. This occurs “live” while the deposition is in progress generating a single video signal, which appears to “split” the screen image into two halves: party A on the right, party B on the left. The videotape reflects the same mixed image for future playback. |
Picture-in-Picture allows for showing an exhibit or an attorney on the screen with the witness being deposed. This versatile feature is available when using our Elmo document projector and video switching technology. |
Trial Proven Video
Traditionally, video depositions have been delivered only on VHS. Other formats such as CD-ROM have been an additional cost. With our Trial Proven Video package, we deliver CD-ROM copies of your video depositions at no additional cost. When you utilize our video deposition recording services, we automatically transfer the VHS tapes into Trial Ready Video format.
